OUR STORY
In 2014, Eliza Winans Rossman brought the giving circle concept to her community, and ALLINBKLYN was born. We are a women's philanthropic initiative made up of members who are honored to partner with nonprofits that are doing important work in our borough. In Allinbklyn’s first year, 41 women shared their time, talent and resources, and together they granted $201,000 to 13 Brooklyn nonprofits, just months after their first meeting.

The full membership meets twice a year to review, discuss, and vote on grant applications. These meetings are interspersed with sub-committee gatherings, learning sessions, and site visits. Our grant-making cycle is October-May. Our members provide our nominations; we do not accept unsolicited applications.

Over the past nine years, the women of ALLINBKLYN, along with a growing number of non-member supporters, have made more than $2.1m in grants to over 50 nonprofits, many of which have received multi-year grants. We have funded organizations providing services throughout Brooklyn. The grants are directed at a variety of target populations and cover many sectors including  youth, families, seniors, education, basic needs, justice reform, health & wellness, workforce development, the environment, the arts and homelessness. We provide emergency grants when a need is identified. We consider these grantees our partners and are proud to support and celebrate their journeys.

HOW WE WORK
Every fall, individual members nominate nonprofits for consideration. A selected list of organizations is then asked to submit grant proposals. Members then review and discuss submissions and conduct site visits to determine which Brooklyn nonprofits will be awarded grants. ALLINBKLYN does not consider unsolicited proposals.

The Brooklyn Community Foundation is our fiscal sponsor and provides administrative support.
